Where can I buy a battery for my Dell laptop, and how much will it cost?

I have a Dell Inspiron that needs a new battery, only I have no idea where to get one (there's no dell shop near me) or how much it should cost.

Also, do they differ in battery life? I.E, my current one used to last four hours, but is there any way I can buy one that lasts longer or is that more to do with the make?|||You could try here:

..but just make sure that you are buying one designed for your particular model of Dell Inspiron. Most of the time dell laptop batteries are pretty well locked into one type so you may not have a great choice with battery life but definitely check it out against your particular model.

Hope this helps...|||You can probably get one at Batteries Plus. You didn't mention the model of Inspiron. Go to their web site and do a search for what you need. They may have a store near you.|||www.radioshack.com|||You can buy it from

Good luck!|||Check Batteries Plus ( http://www.batteriesplus.com ). They have stores all over the US, there might be a store near you. You can also purchase online on their website.

Regarding the battery life, it all depends of the capacity of the cells inside the laptop battery. In you laptop battery you have 4 to 8 lithium ion batteries ( they look like AA batteries, they are a bit bigger but they look very similar ). This "cells" are attached together. The more you cell you have, as well as the more "mah" they have, the longer the battery will last.

I know Batteries Plus make custom batteries, they may be able to take your current battery, replace the cells with newer better ones and maybe even add a couple cells for longer life... However, The "cells" is really what drives the cost of the battery up.

Here is a great article that talk about what's inside your laptop battery and everything I've talked about:
