How do I get wireless connection on a Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop after windows 7 upgrade?

I upgraded my Dell Inspiron 1440 laptop from Windows Vista to Windows 7. When I try to connect to my university's wireless network it will show available connections but will not connect. I can get a wired connection but not a wireless one. Please help.|||Mike,

First check your drivers %26amp; make sure these are all up to date! Follow these instructions for connecting to the internet using wireless: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windo鈥?/a>

If you are still experiencing problems, follow these steps: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windo鈥?/a>

Cheers,

Tara

Windows Outreach Team|||1 - open up "Network and Sharing Center"

2 - click "manage network connections"

3 - right-click "wireless network connections" and go to properties

4 - make sure that the list contains "internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and "internet protocol version 6 (TCP/IPv6)"

(if they are not there, click install, then protocol and pick them from the list. do this for both v4 and v6)

5 - select one of them and click "properties" make sure Bboth DNS and Internet Address are set to automatic.

6 - do this for the other one as well

no guarantees that this will fix it but it seems to be a common problem and it worked for me|||http://support.dell.com/support/download鈥?/a>

go there and get the driver. they have both the 32 bit and 64 bit windows 7 drivers. You might want to pick up the rest of the drivers too, such as your video card, analog modem, etc.
