How can I restore my Dell Studio 1555 to factory setting when f8 doesn't work?

I'm trying to restore my Dell Studio 1555 to factory image, but when I select f8 at launch, the repair computer option is not there. I've used the reinstall disc, but that seemed to cause it's own problems. I really want it to go back to factory image and I can't seem to get the pcrestore fuction to give me that option. Please help!|||Repair computer isn't going to restore it, it will simply repair your existing files.

You need to boot into the recovery partition itself and restore to out of box settings. Most likely your problems are hardware related, and aren't due to the CD or recovery partition. Perhaps you need to install a new HDD.|||Looks like your best bet now is to reinstall the OS.

Then install drivers and such from Dell.

There is a suggested install order for drivers by Dell.

1) You may already know this, but after you format your drivers should be installed in a specific order - see here - Dells can be fussy about this:

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/g鈥?/a>

2) I would recommend that you check the drivers page and download the ones that match your hardware BEFORE you reformat/reinstall and put them on a CD or a USB key. If you wait until after you format it's much harder to tell which of the available drivers you need - even with the service tag it lists all the drivers for the model, not just the ones specific to your particular tag.

You can use a tool like Belarc Advisor to generate a hardware inventory so you can match the drivers correctly:

1. Power the computer on

2. When the Dell screen appears press and hold the %26lt;Ctrl%26gt; key on the keyboard, press the %26lt;F11%26gt; key, then release them both at the same time.

The Dell Restore by Symantec window appears.

3.Click the Restore button or press the %26lt;Tab%26gt; key to highlight Restore and press the enter key.

A caution message appears advising that all data will be lost.

4.Click the Confirm button or press the %26lt;Tab%26gt; key to highlight Confirm and press the enter key.

The Progress window appears. Once the process is begun, Dell PC Restore usually takes only 8 to 10 minutes to complete.

When the restore is complete, the message The system recovery process was successful appears.

5. Click the Finish button or press %26lt;Tab%26gt; key to highlight Finish and press the %26lt;Enter%26gt; key.

The computer will restart.

How good are the Dell computer laptops that can be purchased at Walmart?

Are they as good as the ones sold through Dell exclusively?

The computers are an Inspiron 1501 and retail for about $800|||$800?! you can get a better one from dell.com for $499

the warranties from walmart starts the day the pc is MADE, not the day you buy it. sometimes those pc's sit in warehouses for months and by the time you get it the warranty is almost gone

the parts aren't as good either. walmart buys cheaper parts.

roomie is a pc rep and worked at walmart for 2 yrs|||it is the same thing BUT you can not customize it like you can if you buy from Dell.com directly.|||Just go to Dells website and get one from there! It's much cheaper than 800$!|||Don't buy a dell. HP or Lenovo are the best if you must buy a PC.

How can I change from wired internet to wireless on a Dell Inspiron?

When I first got my Dell Inspiron (running Windows 7), I was automatically able to connect to wireless connections. After having my (wired, no router) cable internet set up, I'm no longer able to do this. I made sure my adapter was enabled. I'm leaving town soon, and I want to make sure I have access to internet on this computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!|||Go to Settings, Control Panel, and click on Device Manager (you need to be in icon mode not list mode (upper right hand corner of Control Panel)). Under Device Manager, look for Network Adapters. Then right mouse click on each one and select Enable. Then, select Update Driver Software also under right mouse click. This should resolve your problem. If it doesn't, go to Settings, Control Panel, and click on Network and Sharing Center and click on Set Up A New Connection or Network and manually try adding the network and see if it works.|||First you must have internet already.

The Modem provides a type of internet. An Internet subscription costs a certain amount of money each month.

Second, you have to go to a store to get a router

A router is the thing that makes the internet wireless. And don't worry if you already have a PC that isn't wireless.

The router should come with a cord that will connect it to the internet.

If it doesn't,

go to Settings-%26gt;Control Panel-%26gt;click on Network-%26gt;Sharing Center-%26gt;click on Set Up
