How do I connect to my router with a dell laptop?

I just got a new dell studio laptop with windows vista. I can't get on my home network. I type in the WEP, then it says I'm connected, but don't have access to the internet. My old laptop worked fine, and this new one did fine with unsecured networks.|||try connecting your laptop to the router with a cable and see if you can go online. If it works, then try removing the security key from the router and try going online. if that works, then create a NEW security key and try again. Ideally, you would want to use WPA2 encryption since WEP is easily defeated.
