How do i restore factory settings on a dell notebook?

I own an inspiron 6400. I wanted to wipe my system and i didnt know that the re-boot settings were already installed onto the hard-drive. So i obtained a windows xp disc and overwrote everthing including my dell factory settings. This means i have lost all dell efault settings and programs.Is there anyway i can recover this without paying 拢92 for 1 years warranty?|||No, if you have overwritten your partition or deleted it and tried to install xp again, theres not much you can do unless you get the recovery discs from Dell.
