What are some pros and cons of getting a dell inspiron 14r laptop?

Hello. I am turning 14 in a week and i want a laptop for everyday things and for school. But I have no idea what are some good and bad things about getting a laptop. I have been looking at the dell inspiron 14r laptop.

So please answer these questions:

1. What are the pros and cons of getting a laptop in general when your going into high school?

2. What are the pros and cons of the dell inspiron 14r laptop?

PLEASE ANSWER SOON!|||My dad got me when this spring, and its great, not to big, not to small and great for school.|||You can check reviews as customers know best!:

However, judging by some reviews on Amazon and Dell, it seems pretty decent for everyday use. :)

As for the pros and cons about notebooks in general:

Good things about laptops:

- Portable

- Saves space

- Good choice for people who have no interest in upgrading the hardware

- Could be used as an alternate to a desktop computer

Bad things:

- "Restrictive", can be expensive to upgrade (Might as well buy a new laptop)

- Default battery life could suck (Dell typically offers longer lasting batteries as upgrades.)

- May not come with a DVD drive (seems like the 14r doesn't have one so you'd have to get it separately or get an external USB drive)

- Target for theft (Hey, they're easy to steal)

And if you're going to high school with it, you'll probably want to pay attention to the weight. You don't want to be lugging around something super heavy.

Also, you most likely won't need a super quick notebook or anything that's geared toward high end graphics (which are mostly for folks that do PC gaming or art and stuff) so something like a 14" or 15" entry level (like this Inspiron 14r) would be pretty ideal.|||If you aren't a power user who does video editing, then this laptop is going the fit the bill for what you need. It's great for surfing the web, checking email, watching videos, and anything else you might do on a typical day. I wouldn't say that this laptop looks amazing, but it does look good. However, unlike some of the HP consumer laptops, this thing performs well and gives you what you need. What you might sacrifice in "appearance", you easily make up for in performance, which is what matters, right?

Battery life on this thing, in my experience, is right at about 4 hours. Very respectable for what's in this thing.

Pros:

Touchpad is very responsive

Keyboard is comfortable size, and keys click nicely

Screen looks great for a consumer model (not high-resolution)

Big hard drive for storing movies and pictures

New Core i3 Processor

Windows 7 Home Premium

HDMI

Cons:

Glossy surface collects fingerprints

Would have liked to see a faster hard drive (7200rpm instead of 5400rpm, but faster HD would eat battery)
