How long does it take Dell to build a laptop?

I ordered a Studio 17 laptop on July 30 and it has been "In Production" for the last week. The estimated shipping date is August 24. Does it really take a month to build a computer? How long does it usually take to get a Dell on your doorstep?|||We ordered a laptop from Dell on Aug 3 and received it Aug 12. Got the computer, tried to turn it on and it didn't turn on. After being on the phone with Dell for over an hour, they said they would send me a new one.|||RIght now is back to school time, so it can take up to 21 days to prepare shipping if it is a hot college or high school laptop. A normal, often in stock notebook would be a lot less, as little as 3 days to prepare.|||there could be a long line of people waiting for a laptop t and the one you want may have some sort of problem
